Tell dispatch the make and model and where the keys are. Some cars can be opened from outside without damage and some can’t, so dispatch will tell you on the call what to expect. We check that the car is yours before it is opened.

- Make, model and year
- Where the keys are: in the ignition, on a seat, or in the trunk
- Your ID, and the OR/CR if it isn’t locked inside
- Whether a child or pet is inside

If the job turns into a tow, dispatch confirms the tow price with you first.

Before the car is opened, we check your ID against the OR/CR, or you show them once the door is open. It’s the same check you’d want if someone else were standing by your car.
If a child or pet is locked inside, say so first, and call 911 if they seem unwell. In the heat, breaking a window may be the fastest option.

Can you make me a new key?
No. We open the car. For a lost or broken key you’ll need a locksmith or your dealer, and we can tow the car to the dealer if needed.
